WORSHIP |
|||
| Currently, Genesis is without a regular pastor. We invite honorably retired ordained ministers, commissioned lay preachers and seminary students to fill the pulpit each Sunday. Communion (the Lord’s Supper) is served the first Sunday of each month. Each Lord's Day this community of faith comes together to offer praise, prayer, and thanksgiving. | |||
| The Worship Committee provides guidance for the order of worship each Sunday. Lectionary Readings-the three year cycle of scriptures from the Old Testament, Psalms, Epistle, and Gospel are used each Sunday during the church year. Using scripture as a basis, hymns, service music, anthems, and instrumental music are chosen. Selections are also based on the Season of the Year. | |||
| The Seasons of the Church Year are also observed visually. Genesis is indeed very fortunate to have creative members who use color and texture to guide us through each season. These members come together as the Liturgical Arts sub-committee. | |||
| Other areas of ministry that are a part of the Worship committee are: ushers, communion servers, and lectors- those who read the scriptures. Additionally, there are behind-the-scene people who take care of important details such as marking the scriptures, making sure there is water for the font, and preparing the communion elements along with clean-up. | |||
| Whether it is a hymn, the psalm, the prayers of the people, a rousing anthem, a heart-felt sermon, or an inspired organ toccata that sends us out into the world, ones mind, heart, and spirit are bound to be touched. Be assured that the Holy Spirit is at work. Come and See! | |||
